About the SLPs
Fernanda is a bilingual, English and Spanish speaking, Speech-Language Pathologist certified with the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Texas Speech Language and Hearing Association (TSHA). She graduated from Baylor University with her Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences. Fernanda obtained her Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Yeshiva University.
Fernanda has extensive experience in the areas of speech, language, voice, swallowing, and cognition, specializing in stroke rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s Disease, among many others. She has worked in a variety of settings: outpatient, inpatient, schools, and private practice.
Fernanda has completed training and hold certifications for Buteyko Breathing Method, McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Protocol (MDTP), Respiratory Muscle Strength Training (RMST), Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT), Phonation Resistance Training Exercises (PhoRTE), Conversation Training Therapy (CTT), and Myofascial release.
She is an active member of ASHA’s Special Interest Group-2 for Neurogenic Communication Disorders, Special Interest Group-3 for Voice and Upper Airway Disorders and Special Interest Group-13 for Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders.
Whenever she is not working, Fernanda enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys playing tennis, fishing, cooking, crafting, swimming, and watching movies.
Alyssa is a Speech-Language Pathologist holding a certificate of clinical competence and certification through the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed though the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration (TDLR). She graduated from Texas Lutheran University with an Bachelor’s degree in Biology and The University of North Texas with a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology.
Alyssa has expertise working with people with language, communication and cognitive disorders (including but not limited to attention, memory, completion of activities of daily living) that may be caused by an accident or disease such as stroke, Traumatic Brain injury or Parkinson’s disease. She is well known in the city for her specialized treatment of voice and swallowing disorders, completing trainings and holding active certifications in McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Protocol (MDTP), Buteyko Breathing Method, Myofascial release, and Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT).
Alyssa is passionate about being up-to-date with current treatments and has previously led a continuing education course titled, “Evidence-Based Management and Interventions for patients with Parkinson’s Disease” and was a expert panelist through SAMoves during the workshop “Medications, Treatments and Therapy: Fact or Fiction.” She additionally helped to develop and independently led a Parkinson’s Support Group to educate people and families of those with Parkinson’s disease on current research-based treatments and exercise to support longevity and quality of life.
